USA Pulses sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SENA

Milestone Achievement for U.S. Pulses in Latin America!

We are proud to announce that Mercalimentos Consultores, Reps for USA Pulses in Mexico and Latin America, has become the first U.S. cooperator to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SENA, Colombia’s national technical and vocational training agency for food promotion.

This landmark collaboration, led by Mercalimentos as USA Pulses’ representative in Latin America, aims to train Colombian culinary and baking instructors and students on the benefits, versatility, and innovation potential of U.S.-grown pulses—lentils, chickpeas, peas, and beans.

🎓 To warm the training program, on March 3rd, our Ambassador Chef interacted with over 200 participants during the Sabor USA Master Class & Fest, co-organized by FAS Colombia, SENA, and Sabor USA. The session was led by Food Engineer Mariana Repetto and USA Pulses Chef Ambassador Daniel Riveros.
📅 What’s next? A full week-long train-the-trainers course is coming soon to Bogotá! July 14-18, 2025.

🙏 Special thanks to FAS Colombia and FAS D.C. for the RAAP Funding for making this initiative possible and for supporting the long-term success of the U.S. pulse industry in the region.
